2017 Black History Month Collection | Nike & Jordan Brand
Nike’s annual Nike Black History Month (BHM) collection has evolved from a single Nike Air Force 1 to an extensive product assortment. Over the past decade plus, the message has also evolved from an honoring of African-American athlete achievement to a wider celebration of Black heritage and the power of sport to fuel community action to create positive change.
The Black History Month collection celebrates Black heritage, in sport and beyond, around the world and has historically provided financial support to Nike’s Ever Higher Fund, which was created to bring mentorship, sport and all of its benefits to youth and their communities.
The limited edition 2017 collection features the Lebron 14, Kyrie 3, Nike LunarEpic, Jordan Trunner and a few more surprise models. I'm excited to see the Jordan Trunner return. I had a pair back when I worked at Footlocker in high school. Over the last few year, the BHM collection has really pushed the boundaries of design. The collection includes decorative marbling with black and white accents. Each design in the collection is also punctuated by gold accents, reminders of the power of coming together and the aspiration of unity.
Nike has made a commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion to consumers, employees, and athletes. The brand has taken a stand for rights of all humans across the globe. In this current political climate, it's more important than ever to support everyone.
The 2017 Nike BHM collection releases February 16 at Nike.com and select retailers in North America. The Jordan Brand's trio of shoes launch February 11.
