Spring Forward, Fall Back This Weekend - March 12th | Daylight Savings

Reminder to move your clocks ahead an hour Saturday night, March 11, as Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts on Sunday.

Here are a few tips to help you adjust to the time change and reset your internal body clock:

  • In the week leading up to the change, try to get more sleep in preparation for losing an hour.
  • Starting Tuesday or Wednesday, go to bed and wake up 15 or 20 minutes earlier each day.
  • On Saturday, set your clocks ahead early in the evening. Then go to bed at your normal time.
  • About an hour before bedtime, power down your electronic devices.
  • On Sunday morning, head outdoors for a little sunshine if possible. Natural light can help reset your body clock. Go for a run or go for a bike ride.
  • The days will be longer and people are happier during the warmer months. As the sun shines longer, more people enjoy the outdoors.

The time change officially takes place at 2 a.m., so change your manual clocks and old-school stove before you head to bed Saturday night.

DST is not observed in:

  • American Samoa
  • Arizona — with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation
  • Guam
  • Hawaii
  • Puerto Rico
  • Virgin Islands
