4 Ways to Earn Your Brunch this Weekend | Bottomless Burpees

Busboys and Poets DC | Jason Jackson

Brunch is a rite of passage in New York City. I religiously get texts throughout the weekday for brunch dates with friends. 6 out of 10 times I turn them down. If I didn't--I would end up brunching about 4 or 5 times a month. That is roughly $200 a month just on scrambled eggs and mimosas. On top of that, brunch is pretty much an all day commitment. Once the bottomless mimosas start flowing, it's pretty much a done deal for any workout plans you have. Often times we make excuses for why we can't find time to workout. I've compiled a list or things I do in order to prepare my mind and body for brunch:

1. Take a HIIT class before brunch:

Sleeping in late Saturday? Don't! Get up and take a high-intensity training group class before brunch. An intense workout like the one at ToneHouse or Fhitting Room is guaranteed to burn almost 1000 calories. That leaves plenty of room for Eggs Benedict and unlimited Sangrias. Throughout the day, you will continue to burn calories even after you've slept the sangrias off.

2. Save your #CheatMeal for brunch

You've been in the gym all week working really hard. Since Tuesday, all you can think about is Chicken & Waffles. If you've been consistent and met your workout goal for the week.

TREAT YO SELF!

Your hard work has paid off. Use this opportunity to relax and reward yourself. #InModeration

3. Bike Ride or Run

Summer is fastly approaching... I think. As it gets warmer take advantage of the opportunity to get some fresh air. Bike ride to brunch and get some quick cardio in. I also suggest running to brunch, if you are within 3 miles of the restaurant. Bring some wipes and a quick change of clothes (fresh t-shirt or blouse). "Most" restaurants have a nice restroom for you to change quickly. Your friends will probably be 15 minutes late anyway...

4. Window Shopping

For some, biking or working out before brunch may not be realistic. You've spent all week at work and you just want to relax with your friends. I get it... but it's important to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle. You feel better when you do better. As an alternative, try going shopping or walking off some of those Red Velvet Pancakes you had for brunch. Guaranteed that after you do a little walking you will feel a lot better.

Brunch is a celebration of friendships, special occasions, and cocktails. Remember that everything we do should be done in moderation. You can be fit and still enjoy all the little special moments in life.
